Lakhipur: To honour the contribution of the tea labour community in Assam’s 200-year-old tea industry, the state government has launched several welfare measures, with the “Eti Koli Duti Paat” scheme being the latest initiative.

As part of this scheme, Minister Kaushik Rai on Thursday took part in a programme at Palorbond Tea Garden under the Lakhipur Legislative Assembly constituency. During the event, gift cheques of Rs 5,000 were distributed among the workers and staff of the tea garden.

The scheme aims to recognise the hard work and long-standing contribution of tea garden workers, who form the backbone of Assam’s tea industry. The programme was attended by garden workers, staff members, and local representatives, who welcomed the initiative and expressed gratitude for the support extended by the state government.

The Assam government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, has been focusing on the welfare and social security of tea workers through such targeted schemes.
