SILCHAR : Salman Khan, Chairman of the Minority Department of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC), arrived in Silchar on Sunday for a two-day visit. At the party office, he launched a scathing attack against the ruling party, targeting the Chief Minister and several ministers of the Assam cabinet.

After landing at Kumbhirgram Airport, he was warmly welcomed by party supporters and taken to the party office. He later attended a meeting at Indira Bhavan, where he interacted with party workers from various levels and gave suggestions to strengthen the party.

In response to media queries after the meeting, Salman Khan strongly criticized the ruling BJP. He stated that Barak Valley is no longer under the leadership of Barak itself. Under the influence of ministers Pijush and Jayanta, Barak has turned into a corridor for various syndicates. He emphasized the need to save Barak Valley from the grip of agents and contractors.

Salman Khan expressed his goal of rescuing Barak from religious division within the next six months and fostering harmony and brotherhood in the region through progressive work. He also sought everyone’s cooperation for development.

He further criticized ruling party leaders and ministers who target minorities by calling them thieves or making distasteful remarks, such as about eating beef. He sarcastically remarked that the same ministers now turn out to be cattle thieves themselves. According to Salman, those who do politics based on Hindu-Muslim issues are now trembling with fear.

He alleged that Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma is running the assembly with the help of corrupt individuals. Referring to the cattle theft scandal involving Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah, he said the minister should have been expelled from the cabinet, but instead, the CM tried to cover up the incident.

Before becoming a minister, Jayanta Malla Baruah allegedly ran a brick kiln and embezzled wages from workers. Dr. Sarma appointed him minister anyway, and now, with his support, syndicates dealing in coal, betel nut, lime, stone chips, and books are thriving in Barak, Salman Khan alleged.

He ended by calling for collective support to stand against the ruling BJP on various issues and to drive Barak’s progress and development forward
