Silchar: The Silchar District Sports Association (DSA) celebrated 100 years of Indian hockey with two spirited exhibition matches held on Friday at the S.M. Dev Stadium.

In the women’s match, the President’s XI clinched a narrow 3–2 win over the Silchar DSA Hockey Academy after an intense battle. The men’s game was dominated by the DSA Hockey Academy, who overpowered the Secretary’s XI with a 5–2 victory.

Umpires Kamrul Hussain Mazumder, Hironmoy Das, and Bachchu Das officiated both fixtures. After the matches, prizes were presented to the winners and runners-up by Tahera Begum Laskar on behalf of the Assam Hockey Association, along with DSA President Sibabrata Dutta and Secretary Atanu Bhattacharjee.

The centenary event drew strong participation and enthusiasm, reflecting Silchar’s enduring passion and commitment to the sport of hockey.
