Silchar: The Silchar flyover project is set for a formal launch in December by Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Ahead of the event, the district administration convened another round of discussions on Wednesday at Banga Bhawan with prominent citizens of the town. The meeting was chaired by Minister Kaushik Rai in the presence of Lok Sabha MP Parimal Suklabaidya, Rajya Sabha MP Kanad Purkayastha, Silchar MLA Dipayan Chakraborty, District Commissioner Mridul Kumar Yadav and senior officials.

Participants spoke at length about the project, with many appreciating the state government’s push for major infrastructure development in Silchar. The three-hour discussion also saw citizens putting forward a series of suggestions aimed at ensuring smoother execution of the flyover work.
Speaking at the meeting, MLA Dipayan Chakraborty highlighted the Chief Minister’s sustained efforts to improve Silchar’s infrastructure and urged collective support for the project. Kaushik Rai, Parimal Suklabaidya, Kanad Purkayastha and others also outlined their arguments in favour of the proposed flyover.
They all reiterated gratitude to Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma for taking up what he described as a crucial step for Silchar’s long-term growth.
