Silchar: In a significant step toward fulfilling a long-standing public demand, Silchar MLA Dipayan Chakraborty on Wednesday visited the Ramnagar-Tukergram railway crossing to assess the feasibility of constructing an underpass at the site.
Accompanied by officials from the Public Works Department (PWD) and the Railway Department, the MLA conducted a joint inspection of the area, which has long been plagued by traffic congestion and safety concerns due to the level crossing.
The proposed underpass aims to provide a permanent solution to the daily inconveniences faced by residents and commuters of the region.
Former Gaon Panchayat President Vidya Singh and Anchalik Panchayat member Sangeeta Singh were present during the visit, along with several local residents and community leaders who welcomed the development initiative.
Speaking to reporters, MLA Chakraborty reiterated his commitment to addressing the infrastructural challenges of the constituency and assured that necessary steps would be taken in coordination with the concerned departments to expedite the project.
