Silchar: The second executive meeting of the Asom Sahitya Sabha was held on Sunday in Chirang district, drawing participation from prominent literary and administrative personalities. Among those present was Silchar MLA Dipayan Chakraborty, who expressed his privilege in attending the important gathering.
One of the major announcements of the session was that Silchar has been selected to host the Sabha’s third full-fledged executive session. To ensure smooth organisation of the upcoming event, a reception committee has been constituted. Minister Krishnendu Paul has been named president, minister Kaushik Rai will serve as working president, and MLA Dipayan Chakraborty has been appointed as general secretary of the committee.
Emphasising the value of cultural integration, MLA Chakraborty praised the leadership of Sabha president Basanta Kumar Das, vice president Padum Rajkhowa, and chief secretary Debojit Bora for their visionary initiatives to strengthen the bond between the Barak and Brahmaputra valleys. He also extended his heartfelt appreciation to all members of the Sabha for their unwavering efforts in promoting linguistic and cultural harmony across Assam.
