Silchar: The Silchar Veteran Cricketers Club celebrated National Sports Day on Friday, paying tribute to hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand on his birth anniversary.

To mark the occasion, the club handed over two boxes of hockey balls along with sweets and snacks to young players training under the District Sports Association (DSA), Silchar.

Club members including Himadri Das, Dipankar Deb, and Raihan Mazumder said the initiative was aimed at encouraging youngsters to pursue the sport while keeping alive the legacy of Dhyan Chand, remembered as the “wizard of hockey.”
