Silchar: The Ex-Servicemen Rally organised by the Spear Corps at Masimpur concluded on October 9, reaffirming the Army’s commitment to the welfare and well-being of veterans and war widows across South Assam.

The event drew over 1,200 ex-servicemen, war widows, and their families from Cachar, Hailakandi, Sribhoomi, and Dima Hasao districts. It served as a key platform to resolve pension, documentation, and welfare-related issues while strengthening the spirit of Connect, Care, Share, and Solve.

Dedicated stalls from Veterans Sewa Kendra, the Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS), and the Grievance Cell were set up to address queries and provide assistance. Canteen services and awareness counters on post-retirement benefits and employment opportunities were also made available.

A medical camp by ECHS provided on-the-spot healthcare to attendees. The cultural program, featuring performances by cadets of 3 Assam Battalion NCC and students of Kendriya Vidyalaya Masimpur, added a heartfelt touch, paying tribute to the service and sacrifices of the veteran community.

Addressing the gathering, Major General Suresh Bhambhu, YSM, SM, Inspector General, IGAR (East), said the nation owes a deep debt of gratitude to its veterans. “They have served with pride and honour. It is our responsibility to ensure their welfare and address their concerns,” he stated.

The successful conclusion of the rally reflected the Indian Army’s continued dedication to supporting its veterans and war widows. Through direct engagement and responsive action, the event strengthened trust and reaffirmed the enduring bond between the Army and its veteran fraternity in Southern Assam.
