Ukhrul : The Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) has declared an emergency in areas affected by recent disturbances at Sharkaphung/Sikibung Kha village in Ukhrul district.

The declaration follows incidents of conflict involving members of the Kuki and Tangkhul Naga communities, which reportedly resulted in violence, destruction of property, and serious threats to peace and harmony. After a careful review of the situation, the TNL noted that the prevailing tension has the potential to escalate further, disrupt normal life, and endanger public safety.

In order to prevent further violence and to maintain peace and order, an emergency has been imposed in the affected areas. During the emergency period, strict measures will be enforced, and all concerned authorities, village leaders, and members of the public have been directed to cooperate fully.

The Tangkhul Naga Long has warned that any act likely to aggravate the situation or disturb peace will be dealt with strictly under the emergency declaration until normalcy is restored.

The emergency declaration was issued and signed by Sword Vashum, President, Tangkhul Naga Long.
