Silchar: On Wednesday, the Puja edition of the literary magazine Uttiyo was formally released at a function held on Shyamananda Ashram Road in Silchar.

The cover of the magazine was unveiled by the president of the function, Haren Dey, chief editor of the Assamese daily Durnitir Darpan. The chief guest, writer Jhumur Pandey, along with eminent guests writer Sunanda Nandi Purkayastha, poet Shatadal Acharjee, and editor Snigdha Chattopadhyay were also present on the occasion.

In their addresses, the president and guests highly praised current editor Snigdha Chattopadhyay for her dedication in continuing the literary magazine founded by the late journalist Sajal Kanti Biswas.

Poet and writer Kasturi Home Choudhury also spoke at the event. Musical performances were presented by Shibani Ganguly Bhattacharjee and Shrabani Sarkar. Floral tributes were offered before the portrait of the late poet Abhijit Chakraborty in his memory.

The programme began with an introductory address by editor Snigdha and concluded with a vote of thanks by co-editor Shabari Choudhury. The entire event was conducted by Tamal Chakraborty.
