SJ Road to Chesri Gonirgram Closed on October 23; Commuters Advised to Use Alternate Routes

KRC TIMES Barak Valley Bureau

Silchar: The Public Works (Roads) Department (PWRD), Borkhola and Katigorah Territorial Road Division, has announced that the stretch of SJ Road leading to Chesri Gonirgram will be closed on October 23. The closure is required to conduct a confirmatory trial patch test under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) project.

Executive Engineer K.B. Nath stated that the work involves Full Depth Reclamation (FDR) technology, a modern method designed to strengthen rural road infrastructure. The process requires a full shutdown of vehicular traffic on the affected stretch to ensure safety and adherence to technical standards.

Commuters are advised to use alternate routes on October 23. The department regrets any inconvenience caused and emphasized that this short-term disruption is essential for achieving long-lasting, higher-quality roads under the PMGSY initiative.
