Warns violent politics will face stern action

Tripura: Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha has condemned the recent political clashes in Khumulwng, calling the incident undesirable and cautioning that the state will not tolerate violence in the name of politics.

Reacting to the outbreak of tension, Dr. Saha said clashes of this nature have long affected regions where communist parties held power, pointing to examples from West Bengal and Kerala. He noted that while every citizen has the right to practice politics, arson and vandalism of homes or party offices run against public expectation and democratic values.

The Chief Minister said he would personally visit the affected area and assured that legal action would follow. He made it clear that politics cannot revolve around burning offices or destroying property, and added that the public has no patience for such behaviour.

Responding to reports of clashes involving ally parties, Dr. Saha urged all sides to exercise restraint and return to democratic norms. He said there is still time for those straying from the right path to correct themselves, adding that such conduct is unacceptable in Tripura or anywhere else.

He warned that any attempt to impose what he described as a jungle raj in the state would be firmly rejected by the people. Even in states known for political intensity, he said, such practices do not exist and no one can sustain influence through force or coercion.
