Two arrested in Cachar with heroin worth over Rs 1.2 crore

Silchar: Cachar Police arrested two alleged drug peddlers during an anti-narcotics operation in Niz Banskandi Part 2 near NH-37 on Sunday. The suspects, identified as Kiam Uddin Laskar, 19, and Abdul Karim Talukdar of Kalakhal under Kachudaram Police Station, were detained after officers intercepted a motorcycle.

Police recovered 235 grams of suspected heroin during the search, along with a TVS Ryder motorcycle without a number plate and two mobile phones. The seizure was made in the presence of independent witnesses, and a drug detection kit confirmed the substance to be heroin. Based on NCB valuation, the consignment is estimated to be worth about Rs 1.2 crore in the illegal market.

Investigators are now looking into the network behind the supply and the routes through which the drugs were being moved.
