Silchar: The Cachar District Administration will hold a special one-day camp on October 11 to help citizens reclaim unclaimed deposits and funds lying with banks and financial institutions. The initiative, launched under the directive of the Finance Department, Government of Assam, is part of a statewide campaign to promote financial inclusion and transparency.

The camp will run from 10 AM to 4 PM at multiple locations — the old conference hall of the DC’s Office in Silchar, Co-District Office in Dholai, Sonai Revenue Circle, and the Block Development Offices of Lakhipur, Katigorah, and Udharbond. These centres have been selected to make the process accessible to people across the district.

District Development Commissioner Norsing Bey said the initiative underscores the government’s focus on citizen convenience and transparent financial governance.

“These camps are meant to close the gap between banks and rightful claimants, ensuring timely resolution of pending financial issues,” Bey said. “It’s not just about settling unclaimed funds — it’s about empowering citizens to access what is rightfully theirs without unnecessary delay or red tape.”

The drive also supports the government’s broader goal of building financial awareness and institutional accountability, particularly in rural and semi-urban areas where such deposits often remain untouched for years.

Citizens are encouraged to visit their nearest venue with valid identification and supporting documents. Bank officials will be present to assist with verification and claims.

By organising this district-wide effort, the Cachar Administration reinforces its commitment to responsive governance and citizen welfare, ensuring that long-pending financial entitlements finally reach their rightful owners.
