Silchar: An unidentified elderly man was found dead on Thursday morning near Trunk Road in Silchar, sparking concern among local residents.

According to police sources, the body was recovered around 11 a.m. after passersby noticed the man lying motionless by the roadside and alerted the authorities. Officers from Tarapur Police Station reached the spot and sent the body, believed to be of a man aged around 60, to Silchar Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem examination.

Though the cause of death is yet to be determined, police have initiated an investigation. The deceased was reportedly wearing a blue tracksuit at the time of recovery.

Tarapur Police have sought assistance from the media and the public to help identify the man. Anyone with information about his identity or family has been urged to contact the police station immediately.

Meanwhile, residents of the area have expressed concern over the incident and called for early identification of the deceased.
