Silchar: In a move aimed at enhancing access to justice for underprivileged members of the Hindu community, the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) has launched a Hindu Legal Aid Clinic at Panchanan Shibbari, Malugram, Silchar. The clinic will be managed by the VHP Legal Cell, Southeast Zone, Cachar district, and is intended to provide free legal support to those in need.
The inauguration ceremony saw the presence of several prominent legal professionals and VHP leaders. Among the dignitaries were Purna Chandra Mandal, Head of the Dharma Prasar Department, VHP Guwahati region; Santanu Naik, Senior Advocate and Head of the Legal Cell, Guwahati region; Advocate Dilip Kumar Das, Coordinator of the Legal Cell, Southeast Zone; and Advocate Soumen Bhattacharjee, Joint Coordinator.
They were joined by several reputed lawyers and social workers including Dharmananda Deb, Biru Ranjan Nath, Moumita Malakar, Baishali Bhawal, and Rimli Sheal.
Speaking at the event, VHP leaders and advocates emphasized that the initiative is not just a legal support mechanism, but also a step toward empowering the community through legal awareness and representation. “The clinic is a platform to uphold justice and serve the marginalized by informing them of their rights and offering necessary legal aid,” said one of the speakers.
The clinic will operate on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month, providing free assistance in matters related to land disputes, family and inheritance laws, and issues involving religious institutions.
With this initiative, the VHP reaffirms its commitment to community service and social justice by bringing legal resources closer to the grassroots Hindu population, particularly those who often remain outside the purview of formal legal systems.
