Dholai: Barohali village under Narsingpur South Gaon Panchayat in the Dholai constituency turned festive on Tuesday evening as the BMP Club Sarbajanin Sri Sri Kali Puja Committee organised a vibrant cultural programme to celebrate Diwali and Kali Puja.

Dholai MLA Nihar Ranjan Das inaugurated the event by lighting the ceremonial lamp, marking the formal opening of the celebration. The evening featured colourful dance performances by children from the greater Narsingpur area, drawing a large audience from nearby villages.

Many residents remarked that it was the first time a sitting MLA had attended an event in their locality, adding a special sense of excitement to the occasion.

Among those present were Zilla Parishad member Pompi Nath Choudhury, Narsingpur North GP president Radharani Nath, BJP Palonghat mandal leaders Apurba Das and Ajay Krishna Dev, and social workers Kishalay Das and Shatadal Nath.

The organising committee included club president Santu Nath, secretary Sanjay Nath, treasurer Shankar Das, and members Durgesh Nath, Pranesh Nath, Kandarp Das, Panna Nath, Ajay Nath, Kanchan Das, Deepak Das, and Sukanta Nath. The programme was conducted by social worker Kamalesh Das.

Addressing the gathering, MLA Nihar Ranjan Das spoke about the deeper meaning of the festival. “The Creator manifests in different forms through the ages to destroy evil forces and uphold righteousness—sometimes as Kali, sometimes as Durga, or in other divine forms,” he said. He added that Diwali symbolises the journey from darkness to light, both in spirit and in society.

“Diwali and Kali Puja bring us together in joy and friendship,” Das said. “They remind us to let go of bitterness and reconnect with one another. When we celebrate together, the walls between us begin to disappear.”

The MLA thanked the organisers for inviting him and praised the BMP Club for hosting a well-organised and lively cultural evening that brought the community together and added warmth to the Diwali celebrations at Barohali.
