Kaushik Rai Lays Foundation Stones for Key Projects

Lakhipur: State Minister and Lakhipur MLA Kaushik Rai on Wednesday took part in a series of programmes across the Lakhipur Assembly constituency, focusing on preparations for the 2026 Assembly elections and local development works.
Rai attended the Vijay Sankalp meeting at Binnakandi Bagan GP, where he discussed upcoming development projects aimed at the overall growth of the GP. During the visit, the foundation stone for the construction of the Olichhara Durga Mandap was also laid. He sought the blessings and support of local residents and reaffirmed his commitment to development and public welfare in the area.

Another Vijay Sankalp meeting was held at Bowali Chengjur GP, where Rai interacted with the public and spoke about future plans, activities, and ongoing development work under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma.
On the same day, the minister laid foundation stones for several projects at Bowali Chengjur GP. These included the construction of a Nata Ghar at Chengjur (Janki Bazar) with an allocation of Rs 35 lakh, a Nata Ghar at Machkhal Tea Garden with Rs 35 lakh under the Barak Valley Development Department, and a Durga Mandap-cum-community hall at Chengjur Manipuri Basti with Rs 10 lakh from the Rajya Sabha MP Local Area Development Fund. Rai said these projects would serve as important social and cultural centres for the local people.
Later, Rai inaugurated the Chengjur Tea Garden Model Higher Secondary School, built at a cost of Rs 3 crore. He said the school would open new opportunities for quality education for students from tea garden areas, offering modern infrastructure, well-equipped classrooms, and a conducive learning environment.
During the day, the minister also met the family members of BJP Binnakandi Mandal worker Prafulla Chandra Das, who passed away recently, and expressed his condolences. Several leaders, including Bijendra Prasad Singh, were present during the programmes.
