Imphal : Amid ongoing efforts to restore normalcy in strife-hit Manipur, MLA Sapam Nishikanta on Thursday lauded Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh for what he described as “sincere and determined efforts” to bring lasting peace and stability to the state.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a benefit distribution programme at the Alternative Housing Complex in Langol, Nishikanta said the Chief Minister’s approach to addressing the ongoing crisis has been focused and inclusive. He noted that Khemchand has consistently emphasised the need for unity among the 36 communities residing in Manipur and highlighted their shared responsibility in safeguarding the state’s integrity.

The MLA also addressed discussions surrounding a proposed Cabinet meeting in Senapati district, dismissing any controversy over the choice of venue. “Senapati is also a part of Manipur. Why shouldn’t a Cabinet meeting be held there?” he said, asserting that governance must extend to every district without exception.

Clarifying logistical concerns, Nishikanta stated that ministers travelling to Senapati for the Cabinet meeting would pass through Kangpokpi district, and stressed that administrative processes should not be derailed by speculation or misinformation.

Emphasising reconciliation and social cohesion, the MLA underscored that peace can only be achieved through collective harmony and mutual trust among communities. “When every Manipuri is happy, Manipur will be happy,” he remarked, calling on all sections of society to work together towards rebuilding stability in the state.
