Committee Meeting Charts the Way Forward

Silchar: The long-awaited dream of establishing an electric crematorium at the Silchar cremation ground is on the verge of becoming a reality. A crucial meeting of the Silchar Cremation Ground Electric Furnace Construction Committee was held on Tuesday, during which several key decisions were made to fast-track the project.

Noted sports personality Bijendra Prasad Singh expressed confidence in the project’s progress. “We are hopeful that this much-needed facility will soon take shape, addressing a vital public requirement,” he said.

Singh added that the electric crematorium, once operational, would offer a modern, eco-friendly alternative for cremation, greatly benefiting the people of Silchar and surrounding areas by providing a more efficient and hygienic service.

The meeting saw active participation from prominent citizens, including Gopal Kanti Roy, Mridul Mazumder, Nitya Bhushan Dey, Babul Hore, Mulchand Baid, Jhalak Chakraborty, and Bimalendu Roy. The committee remains optimistic that groundwork will commence in the near future.
