Silchar: Silchar witnessed a stirring moment on Monday as young cyclist and environmental advocate Pappu Ram Choudhary from Rajasthan rode into Cachar, carrying with him a message that goes beyond endurance and adventure.

Cycling under the banner of the Shakti Sankalp Safar, Mount Everest Cycling Expedition, Choudhary is on a nationwide journey aimed at inspiring environmental awareness, physical fitness, and discipline among India’s youth. His expedition, which has already taken him through 21 states and six Union Territories, has crossed the 38,000 kilometre mark, all powered by his bicycle.

For Choudhary, the journey is not just about distance. His long-term goal is to scale Mount Everest in 2026 and hoist the Tricolour at the summit, a personal and national statement rooted in perseverance, fitness, and resolve.

Running parallel to his cycling mission is an ambitious environmental campaign. Choudhary has pledged to plant one lakh saplings across the country. So far, close to 30,000 saplings have been planted through plantation drives organised along his route, turning his journey into a moving green campaign.

On Monday evening, Choudhary met Cachar District Commissioner Mridul Yadav, IAS, at his office chamber, where he shared details of his expedition and its larger purpose. As part of his Silchar visit, he will take part in a plantation programme at Government Girls M.P. School on December 23 at 11 am.

Speaking about his motivation, Choudhary called upon young people to embrace healthy habits, discipline, and ambition. He said his mission is to encourage youth to contribute to nation-building through road safety awareness, fitness, and environmental responsibility, and to dream as high as Everest.
