Hailakandi: A youth from Hailakandi district has been arrested for allegedly posting a controversial remark on social media regarding the recent Delhi blast.The accused, identified as Farid Uddin Laskar, a resident of Rongpur Part I under Lala Police Station, was taken into custody on Wednesday following a swift operation by Lala Police.

Sources said the arrest came soon after the Chief Minister’s directive warning of strict action against individuals making irresponsible or provocative comments on the incident. Although the post was later deleted, police seized Laskar’s mobile phone for forensic analysis to retrieve the deleted content. He was produced before the Hailakandi court later in the day.

Authorities have reiterated that any online activity spreading misinformation or making insensitive remarks about terror-related incidents will be treated seriously under relevant legal provisions.
