Silchar: The Zilla Sainik Board, Silchar has issued an important advisory asking all Ex-Servicemen and Defence Family Pensioners in Cachar to convert their existing pension accounts into Defence Pension Accounts without delay.
The Board said many beneficiaries are still receiving pensions through regular bank accounts, which may block access to key welfare schemes meant exclusively for Defence Pensioners. One of the most significant benefits at risk is the Personal Accidental Insurance provided in cases of death or disability.
Officials noted that the Ministry of Defence and several banks have already signed a Memorandum of Understanding to extend insurance coverage and additional facilities to account holders under the Defence Pension system. Veterans and widows who do not convert their accounts may miss out on these entitlements.
The Board has urged all pensioners and widows to visit their bank branches at the earliest and complete the necessary formalities so they can receive the full range of benefits offered by the Government of India.
