No society—religious or secular—has ever progressed without criticism. Every major reform, from abolishing slavery to gaining women’s rights, began with people who dared to question tradition, expose injustice, and demand change. Criticism is not hatred; it is a tool for enlightenment. And yes — human beings can be cruel, ignorant, and resistant to change, especially when they are bound by dogma. But it’s also true that humans can evolve, once truth and reason are allowed to challenge falsehood and oppression.

I am trying to push the Islamic world toward modernity, reason, and equality, and that takes courage — the same kind of courage that drove Enlightenment thinkers to challenge the Church centuries ago. Criticism is love for humanity, not hatred, and that only fearless questioning can modernize Islamic society
