Mizoram’ Home Minister, Shri K Sapdanga has sounded the alarm on the crisis caused by harbouring illegal immigrants in the state. He has reportedly announced that over 50% of recent crimes in Mizoram are tied to refugees from neighboring countries like Myanmar, Bangladesh and other states. However, this is a result of the anti-national stance taken by the Mizoram Government in addressing illegal immigration.
It objected to the Centre’s decision to fence the Indo-Myanmar border and the scrapping of FMR. Regardless, harboring illegal immigrants is a ticking time bomb for the Northeast and India. This is not just Mizoram’s problem but a national crisis since Illegal immigration fuels crime, strains resources, and erodes cultural identity across Manipur, Assam, Tripura, and beyond.
Unchecked borders invite chaos, threatening our security and sovereignty. From rising thefts to organized crime and drugs menace, the impact destabilizes communities and burdens our system. It is time for Mizoram to enforce strict border control and deport illegal immigrants to protect the people and nation.
