The issue of drug trafficking in the Northeast states extends beyond what is immediately visible. The narcotics trade originating from Myanmar is a national threat, and Shri @NBirenSingh has been raising alarms on this issue for a long time. His government launched the War on Drugs campaign in Manipur, and a massive amount of poppy cultivation has been destroyed in the past several years while many were arrested during the crackdown.

Although the drug related cases have significantly reduced in the state following his strong measures, there is an alarming rise on cases of drugs trafficking & smuggling in neighbouring states such as Mizoram. The neighboring states must intensify their efforts to curb this menace and launch a similar crackdown on drug trafficking and illegal immigration, as these issues are closely related.
