Continuous heavy rain and thunderstorms have caused several large bamboo-structured light posts, often used as gates during festivals, to collapse across Cachar district.

In Silchar town, incidents were reported from Tarapur, where the NDRF has been deployed, as well as Link Road and Meherpur Birbal Bazar, where SDRF teams are working on the ground. The Silchar Municipal Corporation has also sent a JCB to Subhash Nagar to assist in clearing debris.

In Katigorah, a bamboo structure was uprooted at Siddheshwar Part-II. Fire service personnel are on the scene, and no casualties have been reported.

In Udharbond, three large bamboo gates were brought down by the storm. Teams from the NDRF, SDRF, and the local fire services rushed to the spot and have started clearance and safety operations.

Authorities said damage assessments are underway. Residents have been urged to avoid the affected areas so that emergency responders can carry out their work without obstruction.
