Imphal: Calling it a unique initiative aimed at bringing together the diverse cultures of the Northeast, national award winning filmmaker Sunzu Bachaspatimayum has expressed strong support for the month-long unity rally organised by the KRC Foundations.
The rally, scheduled to run from January 4 to February 4, will cover all eight Northeastern states. According to Bachaspatimayum, the objective of the campaign is to unite people across the region, encourage mutual understanding, and create a shared cultural dialogue. He thanked the organisers for conceptualising the initiative and said he was pleased to be associated with the campaign.
“We look forward to it and are happy to be part of this campaign led by the KRC Foundations,” he said, describing the rally as an important step towards regional harmony.
The foundation also congratulated Sunzu Bachaspatimayum on his recent appointment as Secretary of the Manipur State Film Development Society, Palace Compound. A nationally recognised filmmaker, Bachaspatimayum has received a National Film Award for his work and has represented India internationally.
In 2010, he participated in the International Visitors Leadership Programme on Documentary Filmmaking in the United States, visiting New York, North Carolina, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Washington DC. He is also a former president of the Television and Cine Foundation, Manipur.
Organisers said the rally aims to serve as a cultural bridge across the Northeast, using dialogue and participation to strengthen bonds among communities.
