Silchar: In a significant breakthrough in the ongoing war against narcotics, Cachar Police on Sunday seized a massive consignment of Yaba tablets valued at approximately Rs 6 crore. Acting on specific intelligence inputs, police apprehended two suspected drug peddlers during the operation.
According to sources within the district police, the seizure involved around 20,000 Yaba tablets, a potent combination of methamphetamine and caffeine, often smuggled from across the border and widely abused for its stimulant effects.
Superintendent of Police, Cachar, Numal Mahatta, confirmed the development and praised the prompt action of the police team. “Our team acted swiftly based on credible intelligence and intercepted the accused before the contraband could be circulated further. This is a major success in our continued efforts to curb the drug menace in the region,” he said.
The arrested individuals are currently being interrogated, and further investigations are underway to trace the larger network involved in the trafficking of the contraband.
This seizure adds to a growing list of successful anti-narcotic operations carried out by Cachar Police in recent months, reflecting a zero-tolerance stance against drug-related activities in Barak Valley.
