Kokrajhar : Bodoland Territorial Council, Chief Executive Member Pramod Boro, inaugurated a newly constructed entrance gate near National Highway 31 C in Karigaon on Wednesday. The ceremony was attended by prominent leaders, dignitaries, government officials, and local public in large number.
Situated at the Karigaon T-Junction, marking the entry and exit point to Kokrajhar town, the gate showcases a rich heritage of the region. Chief Boro was welcomed by the cultural troops performing the spectular ‘Bagrumba’ dance.

The gate features traditional Bodo musical instruments like the Serja and Sifung, along with depictions of the Golden Langur found in Raimona National Park and Chakrashila Wildlife Sanctuary.
The project was constructed at a cost of Rs 1.81 crore. The gate symbolises the cultural heritage and identity of Bodoland, promoting tourism and boosting regional pride.
The foundation stone of the gate was laid by BTR CEM Pramod Boro on July 5, 2024. The gate is expected to serve as a major tourist attraction, promoting the region’s natural beauty and rich culture. The project reflects the BTR government’s commitment to preserving cultural heritage while fostering economic growth through tourism.
Pramod Boro highlighted the thematic concept of the gate and appreciated the architect Sanjib Daimary. He also stated that there are 26 communities living in Bodoland and that they are united and integrated. He also mentioned that a 4 lane is being proposed by the Council from the gate till the secretariat.
