Silchar: In a significant blow to the drug trade in the region, Cachar Police carried out two swift and successful anti-narcotics operations, resulting in the seizure of heroin, yaba tablets, and vehicles, and the arrest of five drug peddlers. The estimated market value of the seized narcotics stands at a staggering Rs 7 crore.

According to official sources, the operations were carried out at different locations following credible intelligence inputs. In both cases, the police moved promptly, intercepting the traffickers and recovering a substantial quantity of contraband, including high-purity heroin and yaba tablets — a combination of methamphetamine and caffeine often trafficked across borders.

The arrested individuals are currently being interrogated for further leads. Vehicles used for drug transportation have also been confiscated.

In line with legal protocols, the seized narcotics were later destroyed under strict supervision, marking a major success in the district’s ongoing war against drugs.
