Silchar: The Assam College Librarians’ Association (ACLA), Barak Valley Zone, in association with Radhamadhab College, celebrated National Librarians’ Day on Saturday by hosting a one-day workshop titled “Empowering Digital Education through Open Online Courses.”
The programme, chaired by Dr. Arundhati Dutta Choudhury, acting principal of Radhamadhab College, featured Dr. Mukut Sarmah, head of the Department of Library and Information Science at Assam University, as the resource person. Dr. Sarmah, who also serves as the Nodal Officer of INFLIBNET under the university’s Learning Management Service, discussed key aspects of digital learning, including course creation, student enrolment, and sharing study materials online and offline.
He expressed hope that the training would benefit participants and thanked the organisers for their efforts.
Dr. Dutta Choudhury praised the initiative, emphasising the relevance of such workshops in the digital era. According to Dr. Sonali Choudhury, state vice-president of ACLA and librarian of Radhamadhab College, the event drew 100 participants—80 online and 20 in person, including several faculty members.

The event was anchored by Dr. Sehanara Begum Choudhury, newly appointed librarian of Gurucharan State University, while Dr. Rajesh Chutia, librarian of Borkhola Model Degree College and coordinator of ACLA’s Barak Valley Zone, delivered the vote of thanks.
