SILCHAR : On Saturday evening from 7 pm, at Kashipur-based 147 CRPF Camp, like every year, this year too the 79th Independence Day and the holy occasion of Lord Shri Krishna’s Janmashtami were celebrated with a cultural evening programme.
In this cultural programme of the 147 CRPF, students of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Pailapool, along with distinguished artistes of music, drama, and dance, both individually and in groups, presented their talents on stage. Their performances received resounding applause from the CRPF officers and jawans present, winning the hearts of the audience. The event became a colourful confluence of patriotism and devotion.
The main organiser of the evening, Commander of the 147 CRPF, Bruno A, while addressing the gathering, said that the CRPF is always alert to safeguard the nation and its people. He reminded that India attained independence on August 15, 1947, by freeing itself from the rule of imperial power, but this freedom did not come easily—it was earned through the sacrifices and supreme martyrdom of many brave sons and daughters of the motherland. He added that to preserve this freedom, mutual understanding and compassionate thought among people are essential.
On the other hand, Lord Shri Krishna is accepted worldwide as a symbol of freedom and love. Just as Krishna taught us to fight for our rights, he also showed us the path of love.
The Principal of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Pailapool, Biswas Kumar Rana, in his address, said that CRPF jawans are actively preserving the nation’s tradition and heritage. He also spoke at length on education and culture.
On the occasion, Commander Bruno A honoured every music, drama, and dance artiste by presenting them with mementoes.
The programme was conducted by Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya teacher Barnali Das. Among others present were the camp’s 2IC A.K. Chaubey, Dr. L. Pathari, N.K. Saran, D.C. R.K. Sharma, along with several others.
