Silchar: The District Administration, Cachar, is set to celebrate National Sports Day 2025 in Silchar with a series of programmes to mark the birth anniversary of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand.

The three-day celebration will begin on August 29 with a district-level programme at the DSA Silchar Indoor Stadium. A floral tribute will be paid to Major Dhyan Chand, followed by a veterans’ badminton competition starting from 10 AM.

On August 30, a chess competition for senior citizens will be organized at Narsing Higher Secondary School, Silchar, at 1 PM. The concluding day, August 31, will witness an open cycle rally starting at 7 AM from Raja G C HS School, Borkhola.

The administration expects wide participation from sports enthusiasts across the district, making the event a true tribute to the sporting spirit of Major Dhyan Chand.
