Silchar: The Panchayat Road Sarbojonin Durga Puja Committee will celebrate this year’s Sharadiya Durgotsav from September 28 to October 2 with full rituals and community participation.
The festival will begin on September 28 with Kalparambha and Shashthi Puja. The following day, the sacred Nabapatrika will be installed, marking Saptami Puja. According to tradition, Goddess Durga is believed to arrive this year riding an elephant.
September 30 will feature Maha Ashtami Puja, with the auspicious Sandhi Puja taking place between 1.20 pm and 2.08 pm. Mahanavami rituals and the conclusion of Navaratri Brata will be observed on October 1.
The celebrations will end on October 2 with Dashami Puja and Visarjan, when the Goddess will depart in a decorated palanquin. Committee leaders Mihir Kanti Roy, Shilpi Chakraborty, and Ramu Kumar Dey have urged devotees and residents to join the festivities and offer prayers in unity.
