Silchar: The final of the late Kamalakanta Dhar Memorial Prize Money Football Tournament, organized by Silcoorie Janakalyan Sangstha, was held on Sunday amid a packed crowd at the local ground.
The month-long tournament, which began on July 13 with 32 participating teams, concluded with a nail-biting clash between Mama-Bhagne and Binnakandi FC. The match ended goalless in regulation time, forcing a penalty shootout. In a charged atmosphere, Binnakandi FC held their nerve and clinched the championship title.
Following the victory, the champion team received a cheque of Rs.51,000 along with the winner’s trophy, while the runners-up, Mama-Bhagne, were awarded Rs.30,500 and a trophy. The Man of the Match title went to a Binnakandi FC player, who was presented with a cash prize of Rs.3,000 and a trophy.
Several guests present on the occasion assured support for improving infrastructure at the ground. Organizers of the Sangstha thanked the participating teams, guests, and spectators for making the final a grand success.
