Guwahati: The Assam Police has set up a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the circumstances leading to the untimely demise of noted singer Zubeen Garg.

The SIT, formed under the direction of the Director General of Police, Assam, will be headed by M.P. Gupta, IPS, SDGP, CID. Senior officers from CID, CM Vigilance, district police, and the Cyber Police Station have been included in the team to ensure a comprehensive inquiry.

The Chief Investigating Officer will be Rosie Kalita, APS, SSP, CM Vigilance, assisted by Moramee Das, APS, Addl SP, CID, along with a team of Additional and Assistant Investigating Officers drawn from across the state police force.

Assam Police has stated that the investigation will be carried out in a transparent and time-bound manner. All officers named in the order will remain attached to the SIT for the duration of the probe.The decision follows a high-level meeting between the Assam Police leadership and senior officials, where it was resolved to expedite the investigation into Garg’s sudden death.

Zubeen Garg, one of Assam’s most beloved cultural icons, passed away recently, leaving the state and his fans across the world in grief.
