Silchar: The Janiganj Kali Puja Committee hosted its annual three-day celebration with devotion, colour, and community participation, drawing large crowds from across the region.
Beyond the traditional rituals and offerings, this year’s event showcased a lively mix of cultural programmes that kept visitors engaged throughout. Two open-air stages emerged as major attractions — one featuring a live depiction of Goddess Kali by the Brahma Kumaris, which drew enthusiastic applause, and the other presenting music, dance, and a play with a live Hanuman performance by Balaji Bhakti Mandal, Silchar.
Committee president Rajkumar Paul said all religious observances were carried out in a sattvic and orderly manner, maintaining the sanctity of the Puja. The programme also included a heartfelt tribute to late singers Zubeen Garg and Kalika Prasad Bhattacharjee, commemorating their lasting impact on music and culture.
Paul noted that the committee strives each year to preserve the spiritual essence of the festival while embracing cultural expression. “We want people to feel both devotion and delight — that’s what makes this celebration special,” he said.
Residents described this year’s Janiganj Puja as a meaningful blend of faith, art, and community spirit that turned the three-day celebration into an unforgettable experience.
