Silchar: A retired school principal from Silchar has come under police scanner for a social media post perceived as insensitive in connection with the recent blast in Delhi.

The individual, identified as Nazrul Islam Barbhuiya, a resident of Durgapur, Rongpur, Silchar, and former principal of Banskandi NMHS School, allegedly commented on social media saying, “Election is coming ahead,”—a remark that appeared to link the tragic incident to political motives.

Sources said the post drew public criticism, prompting authorities to initiate an inquiry into whether the comment was made with any deliberate intent or ulterior motive.

Police officials confirmed that a preliminary investigation is underway to assess the nature and impact of the remark. “We are verifying the context and intent behind the post,” said a source familiar with the probe.

The incident has sparked debate over responsible use of social media, particularly in the wake of sensitive national security issues.
