Kurukshetra: A new book titled Gita-Inspired Needonomics: A Pragmatic Solution for a Sustainable Future was released at the Nagpur Book Festival by Mukul Kanithar Ji on November 30. The festival was organised by the National Book Trust under the Ministry of Education.
The book, written by Prof Madan Mohan Goel, presents a bold rethink of conventional economics. Here’s what matters. It argues that modern economic systems are trapped in excess and waste, and that a sustainable path demands a clearer line between needs and wants.

Prof Goel positions Needonomics as a framework that draws from the Gita to promote balance, ethical decision-making, and social responsibility.
Scholars familiar with his work see this as a major addition to the Needonomics School of Thought. The text is expected to interest policymakers, economists, academics, students, and readers who want an economic model that respects both human well-being and ecological limits.
What this really means is simple. At a time when the world is wrestling with inequality and resource stress, the book encourages a shift toward integrity, restraint, and compassion in public policy and personal life. Prof Goel’s ideas invite readers to reconsider how progress is defined and how societies can grow without losing their moral compass.
