Silchar: Assam Rifles has seized narcotics valued at about Rs.12.5 crore during a joint operation in Jiribam, acting on specific intelligence regarding drug movement in the area.
According to officials, a team comprising Assam Rifles, Police and CRPF personnel intercepted a Toyota Fortuner on Friday and recovered 50,000 WY or R tablets from the vehicle. Two individuals were detained along with mobile phones and later handed over to Jiribam Police for further investigation.
Security agencies said the operation reflects the sustained efforts to counter drug trafficking networks and curb the spread of narcotics in the region.
