Opens Gandhi Mela, Distributes Cheques to Tea Garden Workers

Silchar: Barak Valley Development Department Minister Kaushik Rai took part in several key programmes across Cachar district on Friday.
In the morning, the Minister attended a meeting of the Katigorah Assembly Election Management Committee. The meeting discussed election planning and coordination.

Present at the meeting were District Election Management Committee President Chandan Dey, Katigorah Assembly Committee President Dipak Deb, Lakhipur Election Committee Convener Nibas Das, Assembly In-charge Abhrajit Chakraborty, mandal presidents, and other party workers holding different responsibilities.
Later in the day, Minister Rai attended the inaugural ceremony of the historic Gandhi Mela and Exhibition in Silchar. The event is known for its long tradition and cultural importance. MLA Dipayan Chakraborty was present at the programme.
The Minister’s second major programme of the day was held at Dewan Tea Garden in Lakhipur. Under the Chief Minister’s special scheme “Eti Koli Duti Paat”, gift cheques were distributed to 1,372 tea garden workers and employees. The scheme is being implemented under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Kaushik Rai said the initiative would boost the morale of tea garden workers and staff. He expressed confidence that such steps would bring positive change and recognition to the lives of tea garden families in the region.
