Police recovered 19 soap cases containing suspected heroin weighing approximately 216 grams

Silchar: In a major anti-narcotics operation, Assam Police apprehended two persons with suspected heroin valued at around Rs.1.08 crore near Bariknagar Part-2 in Silchar on Saturday morning.
Acting on specific inputs, a police team launched an operation at around 8:20 AM and intercepted a motorcycle bearing registration number AS 24E 9884. The two individuals were reportedly travelling towards Silchar when they were stopped and searched.
The accused have been identified as Jubed Ahmed Laskar, a resident of Dakhin Mohanpur under Sonai, and Burhan Uddin from Dholaimolai Part-1 in Katlicherra, Hailakandi district.
During the search, police recovered 19 soap cases containing suspected heroin weighing approximately 216 grams. In addition, two mobile phones and Rs.500 in cash were also seized from their possession.
Officials stated that the seized narcotics are estimated to be worth Rs.1.08 crore in the illegal market.
All items were seized following due legal procedures under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway to trace the source and network linked to the contraband.
