Silchar: Minister Kaushik Rai on Sunday attended the inauguration of the newly constructed Jagannath Community and Skill Training Centre at Jirighat Tea Garden. The centre has been built at a cost of Rs 1.40 crore.

Located under Jirighat GP in Lakhipur, the facility is expected to play a key role in the social and economic uplift of the tea garden area. The centre will be used for social functions, cultural activities and skill training programmes for local residents.
Speaking on the occasion, the minister said the centre would help people, especially youths, to develop skills and move towards self-reliance. He added that such infrastructure is essential for strengthening unity and creating better opportunities for the future generation.
The Jagannath Community and Skill Training Centre is seen as a promising step towards overall development of the tea garden community and improving the quality of life of the people living in the area.
