Polling to be held from 7 AM to 5 PM on April 9

Silchar: Cachar district is fully prepared for the upcoming Assembly elections, with polling officials reaching their respective centres and all arrangements in place for smooth voting on Thursday.
The district administration has completed the dispatch of poll materials to all seven Legislative Assembly Constituencies. Distribution was carried out at ISBT and ISTT in Silchar, where officials closely monitored the process to ensure everything moved without disruption.
The District Commissioner, along with other senior officers, visited various cells set up at the ISBT complex. These included decoding centres, personnel cell, transport cell, and food canteens. Officials on duty were briefed and their preparedness reviewed.
At the transport cell, discussions were held with ADC in-charge of transport, Shouvik Bhuiyan, regarding vehicle deployment and movement of polling teams. The team also checked refreshment arrangements with ADC in-charge Roktim Baruah and assessed overall readiness.
Polling will be held from 7 AM to 5 PM across all polling stations in the district.
The administration has completed training of polling personnel. Officials from different election cells have been working round the clock to ensure smooth conduct of the election.
A total of 1,732 polling stations have been set up across Cachar. The district has 13,88,500 voters, including 6,95,500 men, 6,92,000 women, and 13 transgender voters. Out of all polling stations, 398 will be managed entirely by women personnel.
The district administration has urged voters to come out in large numbers and take part in the democratic process.
