The Delhi Police have issued an official statement regarding the preventive detention and subsequent release of Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke and leaders Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das amid city-wide protests.

According to Delhi Police, the three leaders were placed under preventive custody under Sections 126 and 170 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS):
“Preventive arrest u/s 126/170 BNSS of Sh. Abhijeet Dipke, Sh. Ashutosh Ranka and Sh. Saurav Das was done on 10.10.2026. All due legal procedures were followed and they were produced before the SEM Court, Delhi Cantt on 11.10.2026. A bail bond as Surety Bond of ₹50,000/- was filled for maintaining peace and good behaviour, for a period of one year, and they were released by the SEM Court.”
The leaders were detained directly from the tarmac upon arriving at Indira Gandhi International Airport on Saturday ahead of a planned march toward Jantar Mantar. The Special Executive Magistrate (SEM) Court granted release following the execution of a ₹50,000 surety bond bound to good behaviour and peace maintenance for one year.

The agitation was organised to demand the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
After his release, Abhijeet Dipke said he was returning to his village to attend his grandmother’s last rites, while affirming that party representatives will continue to address the public and press their demands.
