Guwahati: Guwahati Police have uncovered an alleged escort service racket operating through online platforms and arrested three persons, including the main accused Abhiranjan Das.

According to police sources, the racket specifically targeted young women who had come to the city for higher education. The accused allegedly lured them with promises of quick money and later exploited their financial distress.

Investigations revealed that the victims were coerced into providing escort services to clients. Police said the accused used manipulation, threats, and pressure to keep the victims under control.

Along with Das, two associates — Priyanka Ray and Minakshi Ray — have also been arrested. Authorities stated that the trio not only facilitated the illegal activities but also subjected at least one victim to severe harassment and blackmail.

Police have launched a detailed investigation to identify more victims and possible links to a wider network. Officials said further arrests cannot be ruled out.
