Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh has said that the state government is considering organising a seminar on updating the National Register of Citizens (NRC), amid increasing demands across the state to carry out the exercise before the upcoming Census.
The Chief Minister said the proposed seminar would bring together experts and stakeholders to discuss the legal, administrative and social aspects of updating the NRC in Manipur. He noted that the issue has gained traction in recent months, with various groups calling for an early exercise.
Singh added that any decision would be taken after due consultation, keeping in mind the interests of the people and the need for a transparent process.
