Imphal: In a major anti-drug operation, security forces in Manipur reportedly arrested the General Secretary of the Kuki Women Union along with two other individuals after intercepting vehicles at a naka checkpoint in Senapati district on May 7.
According to reports, the operation was carried out during a routine checking drive when security personnel stopped two vehicles for inspection. During the search, suspected brown sugar weighing around 1.140 kg was allegedly recovered from the possession of the accused.
Officials also reportedly seized cash, several mobile phones, and the two vehicles used by the accused during the operation. The arrests have sparked fresh debate and public concern across the state over the alleged involvement of persons linked to social organisations in Manipur’s growing drug network.
Authorities are expected to continue investigation into the case to determine possible links and the wider network behind the trafficking operation.The identity of the arrested persons has not been officially disclosed in detail so far.
