Urges People to Avoid Bandhs and Blockades

Imphal: Yumkham Erabot Khemchand Singh on Friday appealed to the people of the state to avoid bandhs and blockades, saying such protests severely affect daily wage earners and deepen the economic difficulties already caused by the ongoing unrest in Manipur.
Speaking at the inauguration of an RCC bridge over the Nambul River at Akham Mayai Leikai in Imphal West district, the chief minister urged citizens to choose dialogue over disruptive protests and work toward resolving differences peacefully.

“Enforcing bandhs and blockades out of anger toward the government only leads to hardship, particularly for the daily wage earners,” Singh said while addressing the gathering.
He stressed that repeated shutdowns and road blockades have a direct impact on ordinary people, especially those dependent on daily income for survival. The chief minister said the state has already been facing economic strain due to prolonged instability, and further disruptions only add to public suffering.
Calling for cooperation and understanding among all sections of society, Singh urged people to “come forward for talks” and resolve issues through discussion and mutual understanding instead of agitation.
The newly inaugurated RCC bridge over the Nambul River is expected to improve connectivity and ease transportation in the area.
